Whitlock and Heaps are one of Brighton and Hove’s longest standing family run estate agents having been established for over 75 years and has been owned by the Fisk family since 1985. Peter Fisk joined the firm in 1977 and purchased the company in 1985. After 46 years of being based in our prominent offices on Sackville Road he decided the time was right to retire. His son Jack is now the owner having had the pleasure of working alongside his Father for 14 years and in the industry for 21 years. Jacks wife Nyree also now works for the family business alongside her husband and excellent team.
Our firm acquired Cales and Co estate agents in 2021 who have been established for over thirty years and themselves are a well-respected independent firm. Cales and Whitlock and Heaps have had a close working relationship for a number of years through Peter and Steve Caiels’ friendship and mutual respect with the firms sharing Christmas Parties for over twenty years and in more recent years Jack married Steve’s daughter Nyree. When the opportunity arose for the two firms to combine it was a merger that was too perfect a fit to not complete.

The agency was set up in 1948 by Roy Whitlock and Peter Heaps in our prominent Sackville Road office which quickly became known as Whitlocks corner establishing a reputable name in the City over the next 29 years.
With John Heaps retiring Peter Fisk at the age of 19 joined the firm working alongside Roy Whitlock within the sales market. Bringing a fresh impetus and new ideas with a desire to build and grow the firm.
Over the next 24 years Peter worked tirelessly to build up a fantastic reputation within the City. His wife Sonya also worked at the firm. With the firm also venturing into the rental sector building up a rental portfolio across Sussex.
In 2009 Peters Son Jack joined the family business having worked for other independent estate agents bringing a fresh approach and drive as his Father did when he joined the company in 1977. During this period Peter’s daughter Gemma has worked and the firm and Jacks wife Nyree is now also involved. The firm purchased the well established estate agent Cales and Co in 2021 bringing their rental portfolio over to the Hove office. Going from strength to strength expanding both the sales and lettings departments.
After 46 years Peter decided the time was now right for him to retire with the firm now being owned and run by Jack and Nyree retaining the family run ethos that has been so integral to our firm over the past 46 years. We have a fantastic team who are proactive, dedicated and hardworking that also believe in our business as much as we do.

Nyree Fisk
I am so pleased to now be working for the family business with Whitlock and Heaps having been so important in my Father and Mother in laws lives for over 46 years. Having seen the hard work and dedication given to expanding the business from Peter and Jack in the last 14 years I am proud of what our family firm represents. My role is handling and overseeing compliance certification in the lettings department. Outside of work the majority of my time is taken looking after our children Freddie and Sophie as well as our two German short haired pointers Blythe and Anna.

Edward has been with Whitlock & Heaps now for six years, having previously worked at another independent agency for a few years prior to this. Edward works closely with all aspects of estate agency, from initial enquiries through to valuations. He has a strong knowledge of Brighton & Hove and surrounding areas, having lived in the area for over a decade. Edward prides himself in giving valuable advice and achieving the best values for his clients properties. On his days off Edward enjoys walks with his partner and finding new restaurants locally. He is also the proud owner of his two half Maine Coons, Chewbacca and Yoda.

I have been working in estate agency for my entire career spanning almost 35 years and have gained
much experience in both sales and lettings. I am a member of ARLA Propertymark and continue each
year to attend professional courses to keep up to date with the complexities of rental legislation and
regulations. I have lived and worked in Hove and Brighton all my life so know the city well and I am
committed to provide the highest level of customer service whilst working alongside such a great team
to offer a professional, positive and friendly approach to all our clients.

I joined Whitlock & Heaps following on from a 20 year career within the luxury goods market and more recently working for a local company supplying nationally and specialising in bespoke plantation shutters. With a wealth of knowledge within customer fulfilment, logistics and operations, Jan prides herself on her delivery of outstanding customer service and client communications.
Outside of work Jan enjoys long dog walks in the countryside with her 13 year old Corgi, meeting with friends and gardening.

I started working for Whitlock and Heaps in 1977 just after Peter Heaps had retired and I worked with Roy Whitlock until 1985 when he also decided to retire. The firm has gone from strength to strength over this 39 year period and with my son joining the company and becoming a Partner in 2011 his impetus and enthusiasm has encouraged us all to drive the firm further forward. We pride ourselves on being an independent family firm that offers a personal and individual service to every one of our clients from introduction through to completion of the sale or the letting of your property. I am proud how our firm has evolved over the years and in my opinion offer a much better service than is provided by the corporate firms.
