I started working for Whitlock and Heaps in 1977 just after Peter Heaps had retired and 1 worked with Roy Whitlock until 1985 when he also decided to retire.
I then purchased the business and decided to retain the firms name as the Whitlock name and brand was synonymous to Poets Corner and surrounding areas. The firm specialised in property sales but after the death of a local solicitor in 1993 we were offered the opportunity to handle the management of his property portfolio. This department has grown tremendously and has developed our letting section into an integral part of our company.
The firm has grown from strength to strength over this 37 year period and with my son joining the company and becoming a Partner in 2011 his impetus and enthusiasm has encouraged us all to drive the firm further forward.
We pride ourselves on being an independent family firm that offers a personal and individual service to every one of our clients from introduction through to completion of the sale or the letting of your property. We are one of the longest standing estate agencies in Brighton and Hove experiencing and coming through property recession between 1989 and 1995 when the majority of our instructions were building society repossessions and the bleak financial downturn in 2008.
